Set up and tips
What’s in your SeaLuxe sun shade bag?
- 1 x 100% cotton canvas fabric
- 6 x premium ropes (pre-attached to the cotton canvas fabric)
- 1 x pole bag
- 2 x pole anchors (grey)
- 2 x upright poles
- 1 x connecting pole
- 1 x peg bag
- 6 x high visibility sand / grass pegs
- 1 x lightweight mallet
Easy set up
- Select the area you would like to assemble the sun shade
- Join the the three sections of the connecting pole
- Lay the connecting pole on the sand or grass
- In line with each end of the connecting pole, use the mallet to insert the pole anchor three-quarters of the way into the sand / ground
- Join the three sections of each upright poles, and place the short-spiked end of both poles into each pole anchor
- Place the connecting pole onto the long-spiked end of each upright pole
- Place the cotton canvas fabric over the connecting pole and place the centre eyelets (on the edge of the fabric) over the long-spiked end of each upright pole
- Feed the free end of one rope through the hole of one peg to your desired length and wrap the rope around the peg hook to secure the rope (Alternatively, for a more permanent connection, after determining your desired rope length, feed the rope through the hole in the peg and then tie a knot to secure)
- Carefully outstretch the rope while holding the attached peg in one hand, then dig a small hole in the sand with the other hand and then insert the peg point-first, also inwards at a 45 degree angle, using the mallet provided
- Repeat steps 8 and 9 for each of the five remaining ropes and pegs
- Check that you are happy with the placement of each peg and the tension of each rope. If any adjustments are needed remove a peg and repeat step 9
- Enjoy!
Helpful tips
- Alternative set-up – you can easily change the shape of the sun shade for maximum versatility. In step 7, once you have placed the cotton canvas fabric over the connecting pole, choose alternative eyelets (on the edge of the fabric) to place over the long-spiked end of each upright pole.
- Assembly – the pole anchors make it easy for one person to assemble the sun shade in minutes.
- Poles – take care when assembling the the upright and connecting poles.
- Pole anchors – these are designed to be driven into sand or soft ground using the mallet. They are not suitable for being driven into hard or rocky ground.
- Pegs – these are also designed to be driven into sand or soft ground using the mallet. Again, they are unsuitable for use in hard or rocky ground.
- Cotton canvas fabric – it’s easy to clean. Rinse off with cold water using a hose and hang out to dry in the sun.
- Mild winds - If assembling the sun shade in mild winds, we recommend two people set it up, with one person holding the sun shade upright, while the other person attaches the ropes and inserts the pegs.
- Strong winds - We don't recommend using your sun shade in strong winds. The poles may get damaged while setting up or taking down your sun shade.
